Manifestation culturelle pour célébrer l’amitié indo-marocaine

Embassy of India, Rabat, in association with Moroccan-Indian Friendship Association, organized an « Indian Melody » evening on 19 February at Youth Club Aljoulane, Casablanca, to commemorate 75 Glorious Years of Indian Independence and to celebrate strong Indian-Moroccan friendship.

The event witnessed many Moroccan artists come together to sing and dance on Bollywood music. Artists also paid a special tribute to Lata Mangeshkar, « Nightingale of India » who has sung more than 25000 songs in various Indian and foreign languages. She had passed away earlier this month in India at the age of 92.

India and Morocco share strong cultural ties and Bollywood movies and songs are particularly very popular in Morocco. Special tributes paid to Lata Mangeshkar by Moroccan artists is a testimony to the love for Indian culture in Morocco.

The event was organised as part of a series of programmes planned by Embassy of India, Rabat this year under the banner « Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav » celebrating 75 glorious years of Indian independence and Indian-Moroccan friendship.
